What a super bummer. I have heard about this happening. Thinking about some special protection for my cards. This must be devastating .

You can find it in hardware stores sometimes.  Check the label and see if it is in fact 100% lye, and see about getting your hands on the MSDS just to make sure.  There are lots of places to get it online.  the previous posters mentioned some, and there is a supplier on Ebay called Essential Depot; they have good stuff.

Where did you get it.  I'd like to get a look at it.  All the palm I have worked with has been the consistency of lard but had an off-white or yellow tint to it.  I know lots of "butters" contain soy.

additionally i watch a video in which the woman was trying to infuse lemon and basil sent into her soaps. She used fresh Buddha Hand and basil. She said that she could not really smell the lemon or basil in the finished product

Our local Lowes carries Roebic 100% lye that I've used.  Expensive but good if you don't wish to wait for a shipped order from elsewhere.  AAA Chemical is who I recommend.  Good quality and prices.

i was doing some research on this last night and the reason to dry the herb first is because fresh herbs have water in them and that water could spoil if not use immediately.

if using dried herbs you can leave the herbs in until you get the sent/colour you are looking for. As long as the oil they were infused  in does not spoil

Here is a link on how to infuse oil with herbs, flower petals would be the same.

http://mountainroseblog.com/making-herbal-infused-oils/

this was the link i was looking at...

http://make-fragrances.blogspot.com/2007/01/how-to-make-essential-oils.html

seems simple enough..but this one doesnt mention drying or wilting them first like your herb link does..just says to bruise the petals..do you have to make sure they're wilted/dried before soaking in the oil?

Also, neither says when to harvest the plant or which parts can be used?  Anyone here sucessfuly infuse oils? How did you do it?
