Hi everyone, I am new at soap making. So I am just doing the melt and pour. Has anyone seen the cupcake soaps. They have done them in a way that the frosting looks like real frosting on a cupcake. I want to use a shea butter for the frosting and whip it someway to be able to put it on the cupcake part with a cake decorating tip. Would I mix a little bit of soap with the shea butter? Can this be whipped? I tried it doing it that way and it turned to hard to squeez out of a decorating bag. Anyone have any suggestios on how this might be done. Thank you. Smiley

Hi Sweet grandma!  I dont know if it is possible to just beat shea butter up and pipe it, even with the added soap because of the consistency of the shea.  SoapQueen has a video on youtube that shows how to beat Melt and Pour to get it to the consistency of frosting, maybe you could try it that way?  Good luck!

I've been wanting to do whipped shea butter on top of round bath bombs but as yet haven't tried it.

Some of the recipes I've seen use carrier oils to keep the shea from re-hardening. The simplest of them calls for about 25% coconut oil. I've also seen a recipe for a shea and cocoa butter whipped body butter, but can't put my hands on it right now. Anyway, they melt the butters and add a liquid oil or two and then stick blend the mixture in a container that's immersed in ice water. The body butter option may end up being too soft to hold its shape as frosting.

Another option is to use real icing made with meringue powder as it just dissolves in the bath. They would look really sweet with cosmetic glitter in the icing.

Hello there!

I have done these but I use Foaming Bath Butter! There are quite a few recipies online for this including Brambleberry, SoapyLove, and About.Com Candle and Soap (David Fisher has a plethora of great things using M&P!

Have fun and welcome to HandCrafted Soaping!

i get my foaming bath butter from either Wholesale Supply Plus or a place called Jody's....you just whip it up and add in some m&p soap...recipes vary, so look around and find one you like. it makes such nice fluffy frosting though. i love it!
