Hi all,

I'm John and I'll be spending a good bit of time here. Mostly reading and asking questions. I won't be too much trouble, I promise.  Grin I am new to soaping, but am ready to become knowledgeable and successful.
I've been studying for several months and have bought all the equipment that I need to start and am building several molds this weekend. I just feel like I need to read and absorb more knowledge before I jump into the mold with both feet.  Wink  I am finishing Alicia Grosso - Everything Soapmaking book right now and have been through the Cavitch book as well. I have read countless forums and watched as many videos. I'm ready to jump in and ask questions and get my soapin' on!
I'm very excited, if ya can't tell. In my life outside this new passion, I am a Sr. Graphic Designer at a major retailer. My wife just finished Massage Therapy school and the bath and body products will make a nice compliment to her business. We've been married 7 years and our daughter is a too smart for her age 4 year old.
Ok, now that we got all that out of the way, let's talk soap!

John . . .

Choose a recipe you'd like to make and order the material (if you don't already have them) . . . choose a recipe . . . stop reading all the information . . . and make the soap already!

While you need head knowledge; the best experience comes from doing . . .

Ok, this seems to be the general concensus. So I'm going to start next weekend. Some people are a bit freaked out that I've already bought all my equipment, done my Marketing plan and designed my logo and packaging. I don't plan on jumping into the retail market without exhaustively testing recipes and blends. I just am committed to making this a successful venture, not just a hobby.

Good luck, and congrats for going in to this with your ducks all lined up.  You've already done the "worst" part by doing all the background work.  Now you get to concentrate on the soaping.

John,

Just go ahead and do it. If something goes wrong post it on the forum. Everyone here is friendly and no one bites, at least I don't think they do. Who knows, you may come up with something that none of the rest of has ever thought of. I'm the one who breaks all the rules. If it works, it's good.
